Located in the scenic valley of Kangra in the foothills of the Indian Himalayas, Bohemia Design is an ethical fashion Retail and B2B brand in India with over 400 employees from all walks of life. We manufacture high quality clothing for our clients in Australia and for our own Label. We sell our line of clothing through retail and wholesale on our website and at our recently opened brand Store in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala, India.
Bohemia is committed to empowering local workers (especially women) and making beautiful clothing. All our products are hand made at our tailoring centre, enabling us to have close control over design and production, and allowing us to take good care of our employees.
our values
Our values form the foundation of our organization and business. We believe in EEE – Ethics, Empowerment and Excellence.
Ethics
We believe following ethical practices should be at the core of any business. We strive to achieve this with three things:
- Treating our employees fairly
- Paying fair wages
- Making sure there is no child labor in our supply chain
Empowerment
We are committed to empowering local workers, especially women. When you buy a product from us, you are not only supporting an ethical brand but also helping us help these women and their families.
With existing unemployment problems in India, women are most effected because without a job, they are totally dependent on their husbands or fathers. This often means that they can’t afford to provide their children with proper nutrition, a good education or a decent quality life. At Bohemia, we not only provide them with a source of income but also teach them new skills and give them working flexibility so they can earn as well as take care of their families.
We are creating an environment at our tailoring centre that encourages positive thinking and nourishes creativity and growth.
Excellence
All our products are crafted by our dedicated, experienced tailors who give attention to every detail in each and every product. We hope our core values shine through to make all our products excellent!
our responsibilities
As a business entity and as individuals, we believe that we have a responsibility towards our society and the planet as a whole.
Our workers
Decent working conditions and fair wages are a serious issue in the villages and towns of India. Through our tailoring centre, we provide good working conditions and fair pay to local Tibetans and Indians.
The Local Community
In our endeavor to deliver excellent products we have to filter out products with even minor defects. We donate these clothes to the poor whenever possible.
The Environment
Although our products are not 100% organic yet, we strive to avoid any material or process that harms the environment. Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of converting waste materials into new and often beautiful products. We try to do this as often as possible as it’s a great way to reduce our carbon footprint. Upcycling is better than Recycling because recycling consumes energy and resources to collect, sort and process.
